This notice explains what information Tented uses, why it is needed and the choices you have. Tented is provided by Zulfat Iliasov, an independent developer responsible for the personal data described here. In this notice, "we" and "us" mean Tented's developer. For questions or help with your data, write to support@tented.app.
The short version
You sign in to your broker through its own software; Tented does not receive your broker password. Tented Cloud keeps your journal in sync across your computers and is on by default. You can turn it off in Settings. Desk and Feedback send the information needed to answer your questions or help with a problem. We also use account, diagnostic and app usage information to run and improve the service; you can turn usage data off in Settings. We do not sell your personal data.
Your account and email
Our sign-in provider handles authentication, so Tented does not receive your sign-in password. We receive your email address, name and sign-in identifier. We also keep each signed-in computer's name and platform, its most recent sign-in activity and the days it was active. This lets us manage your sessions and understand how many people use Tented.
We record assistant usage, such as message counts, the model used and the amount of text it processes, to manage usage limits and service costs.
We use your email for your welcome message, account support, beta and paid-plan notices, and important changes to the service or these documents. An email delivery provider helps us send these messages. Marketing emails will include a way to opt out, and we will ask for consent where required. We do not share your address with third parties for their own marketing.
Your journal, sync and backups
Your journal is stored on your computer. With Tented Cloud enabled, a copy is also stored with your Tented account so your computers can stay in sync. This includes journal accounts and their broker identifiers, trades, fills, plans, scenarios, alerts, notes and strategies, along with synced settings and workspaces.
Tented Cloud is the default. To stop journal sync, open Settings → Sync and choose "Your computers only". You can also delete the existing cloud copy there. This setting does not turn off Desk, Feedback or account services; their data use is described below.
Backups are saved in a folder on your computer, which you can change in Settings → Backups. Tented does not upload those backup files. If you choose a folder managed by a service such as iCloud Drive or OneDrive, that service handles the folder under its own settings and privacy policy.
Desk conversations
Desk uses your messages, any images you attach and relevant information from the app to answer you. It can look up trades across your journal accounts, including positions, plans, notes and activity. It can read the Trades view and the Journal view you have open, including filters, selected trades and performance figures such as P&L, commissions and drawdown.
Desk can also read a strategy's title, text, target and stop, retrieve current broker quotes for a trade's contracts, and price trades you ask it to model. These lookups become part of the conversation, including when journal sync is off. Desk's journal tools omit broker account-number fields. Information you put in messages, notes, account names or images can still be included, so only share details you want Desk to use.
Requests pass through Tented's server to the AI providers that run Desk. When an answer needs current information, Desk can also use web search, which sends search queries to a search provider. AI providers may keep requests for a limited time under their data policies, including for abuse monitoring.
Your conversation history and attached images are stored with your Tented account and copied to the computers you sign in on. Relevant conversation history is sent to the AI provider when you continue a conversation. Desk history is separate from the Tented Cloud journal setting.
Feedback and support
The Feedback assistant helps you describe a problem. When you message it, your words and images go through Tented's server to its AI provider, along with the app and system versions, the screen you are on and recent warning and error logs. Broker account numbers are masked in those logs.
When you submit a report, we store it with your account, including its conversation, images and diagnostics. Diagnostics include app and system versions, connection events and recent logs, which can contain symbols, prices and order details. Broker account numbers are masked in the logs. We also create or update an issue in Tented's private GitHub tracker, with the report and links to its attachments, so we can investigate. We do not add your account email to the issue, but details you include in your message or images remain part of the report.
Error and crash reports
Tented sends diagnostic reports to our error-tracking provider when something fails. These describe the error, where it happened in the code, and the app and system versions. Desktop reports use a pseudonymous identifier rather than your account email. We configure error reporting to exclude IP addresses and computer names.
A native app crash can also send a memory snapshot to help diagnose the failure. This may include information the app was handling at the time.
How you use the app
Unless you turn it off, the desktop app tells us which parts of Tented you use: when it starts, which views you open (Trades, Workspaces, Briefing, Journal, Desk), when you add a workspace or a panel, how a trade was created (the builder, a broker fill or an import, with the number of trades imported), the setup steps you complete or skip and when you connect a broker. Each record carries your account, the time, the app version and your operating system.
These records do not include symbols, prices, positions, amounts, notes, messages or broker account numbers. We use them to see which features people use and what to improve. With Tented Cloud enabled, we also count which journal features are in use, such as plans with a target or stop, alerts and scenario conditions, from the synced journal described above.
To stop sending usage data, open Settings → About & updates and turn off "Share usage data". With Tented Cloud enabled, the choice follows your account to your other computers; with "Your computers only", turn it off on each computer. We keep usage records for 13 months.
Hosting and service providers
Tented's primary application database is hosted in the EU West region. We also use providers for sign-in, email delivery, file storage, error tracking, our private issue tracker and AI features, including web search. They receive the information needed for those services and may process it outside your country, including outside the EU. You can contact us for details about the providers involved in your data.
Why we use personal data
Where data protection law requires a legal basis, we use account information and the content needed for the features you use to perform our agreement with you. We rely on our legitimate interests in keeping Tented secure and reliable to process diagnostics, and in understanding and improving how Tented is used to process usage data. We also process information when needed to meet legal obligations, such as responding to data-rights requests. Where consent is required, we rely on that consent, which you can withdraw.
Keeping and deleting your data
We keep your account data while your account exists. To request a copy, correct your information or close your account, email support@tented.app from the address on your account. Account deletion removes your account, synced journal, Desk history, feedback reports and usage records from Tented's active systems within 30 days. Our database backups expire after 30 days, so an earlier copy may remain in a backup until it expires. Copies on your computers and in your backup folders stay until you remove them.
Depending on the law that applies to you, you may also have the right to receive your data in a portable format, restrict its use or withdraw consent where processing relies on consent. You can contact us to exercise these rights or raise a concern, and you can complain to your local data protection authority.
You may also have the right to object to certain uses of your personal data. Contact us at the address above if you would like to do so.
