Accounts
You may trade a margin account, a Roth IRA and a paper account, and you want each one’s trades, P&L and commissions kept apart. A Tented account is that bucket in your journal. Every trade belongs to one account, and the account sets the commission rates, the order defaults and the routing to Interactive Brokers (IB).
A Tented account is not your Tented sign-in. You sign in once with your email; inside that sign-in you create as many trading accounts as you like. Several Tented accounts can share one IB account.
Create an account. Title bar → gear → Settings → Accounts → New account. Enter a name and click Create. The new account starts as Paper, USD, with a 100,000 opening balance and the commission rates below; edit it afterwards. The setup wizard’s Account step creates the first one.
Choose the account type. Account type is Live, Paper or Manual.
- Live and Paper are accounts at a broker. They show Broker (None or Interactive Brokers).
- Manual has no broker: you record trades yourself. It shows no Broker, Broker account ID or order defaults.
Set money fields.
- Currency: three letters, USD by default.
- Opening balance: the account’s starting value. Plan targets and stops in % of account measure against it, and they need it above zero. You can type it with or without separators.
- Commissions: Per option contract (0.65), Per stock share (0.005), Per futures option contract (0.85) and Per futures contract (0.85) are the defaults for a new account. Tented estimates commissions with these rates, including the cost to close when Settings → Trading → Commissions in P&L is Round trip. Fills that IB reports carry IB’s own commissions; edit a fill’s fees in the Journal to correct one. Changing a rate does not change old P&L from fills that carry IB’s commission. See Trading settings.
Edit and save. Pick the account under Editing, change fields and click Save. Save is disabled until something differs.
How accounts meet imports and setups. An OptionNET Explorer import puts each ONE account’s trades into a Tented account you pick, and a new one trades through your connected IB account unless you choose No broker. Tented learns your repeated entries per account, so Your setups on a new trade lists what that account’s history supports. See Import trades and Setups.
- Link an IB account: the Broker account ID and Transmit by default.
- Change an account’s icon and color
- Delete an account, and close your sign-in account.
