Restore a backup

Restore when you need an earlier journal back, or to move your journal to another computer.

1. Title bar → gear → Settings → Backups → Restore….
2. Pick a tented-journal-….sqlite file. The confirmation shows its date, trades and accounts.
3. Click Restore and restart. Tented backs up your current journal first, then restarts with the chosen one.

A notice then reads “Journal restored from the backup of …”, or “The journal was not restored” with the reason.

Caution

A restore replaces the whole journal and its settings. You can’t restore one trade.

Tented refuses some files. “This file isn’t a Tented journal backup.” means the wrong file. “This backup was made by a newer version of Tented…” means update Tented first.

After a restore, Tented may show a Choose a journal chip. That is by design: the restored journal is unlinked from the cloud copy so the cloud cannot undo the restore. Choose Keep this computer’s (see Choose Tented Cloud or your computers only).
