Transmit or park in TWS

The checkbox next to the Send and Save & send buttons is IB’s transmit flag. It decides whether the order goes live at once or waits in TWS for you.

• Ticked: the hint reads “Goes live when you send it”.
• Unticked: the hint reads “Waits in TWS until you transmit it there”. The exchange has not seen the order; it is parked.

Each account has a default: Settings → Accounts → the account → Transmit orders by default. Your last choice in the dialog wins afterwards.

After you send, a toast says “Order sent to IB”, or “Order is waiting in TWS”.

Note

Save has no transmit flag, because it sends nothing.

Use a parked order to stage an order, review it in TWS, and release it later. Release it from TWS, or click Transmit on the trade page (Parked orders).
