Market data you need
Tented shows what IB sends. Real-time quotes depend on your IB subscriptions, and how many strikes stream depends on your line allowance.
- Real-time quotes need an IB market data subscription for the product. Without one Tented falls back to delayed data (about 15 minutes old) and says “Delayed data” in the status bar. Settings → Connection → Market data type can also force Delayed.
- IB limits you to 100 streaming quotes (lines), plus 100 per quote booster pack. Set the allowance in Settings → Connection → Line allowance. At the limit, strikes far from the money stay unstreamed. Tented assumes the allowance you set; it does not read it from IB.
- SPXW, RUTW and VIX quotes between 09:25 and 09:30 ET are indicative. Prices, P&L and the risk graph keep each contract’s last quote from before the gap until the open, then switch to its first usable regular-session quote (at most two minutes after 09:30).
- Outside the contract’s session Tented shows IB’s frozen data (“Frozen”).
- thinkorswim as a source works on Windows only, with the desktop app running. Desk’s market reads need IB.
