Close a trade

Closing always goes through the Commit dialog; there is no one-click close that skips it.

Click Close at 16.00 (the button shows the net mark per 1×, from the chain’s mids) in the trade header. Tented loads the reversing legs, priced at the mids, and opens the Commit dialog on this trade; the action is labeled “Close”. Check the net price, change the order type or time in force if you like, and send or save (Save, send or both).

The button takes the primary (filled) style when your plan says it is time to act (a target or stop is reached). It is hidden while an order is working on the trade (Commit or Send is disabled). Close at mark with no price means quotes for some leg have not arrived.

In the Commit dialog opened by Close at, lower Lots. A 4× condor reads 4 lots of 1/1/1/1; at 2 lots the order closes half. Or edit the quantity of each leg of a Close scenario (1–999) before you commit it.

In the trade builder, Close on the Position row adds the scenario “Close: Position”, holding the reversing legs of everything you hold, shares included. Close on a structure band adds “Close: “ plus the structure’s name, for example to close a hedge and keep the butterfly. Then click Commit on the scenario. With the Position scenario ticked in Plot and combined, the graph shows the flat, closed-out result.

A trade is Closed when its position is flat. The last fill dates the close. Its card moves to the Closed section, its page becomes the review page (Closed trades), and it counts in the Journal and Performance.
