Import fills from TWS

Note

Needs a connection to TWS or IB Gateway (Connect to Interactive Brokers). TWS exposes only the current trading day to the wizard opened from the Add menu or the shortcut.

1. Journal → Fills → Add → Import from TWS (⌘⇧I, CtrlShiftI on Windows). Under Import into account choose the account and click Fetch.
2. Tick the executions that make up one position (the Symbol filter appears when several underlyings came back) and click Link (N).
3. Under Trade, choose Start new trade (set Trade name and Category) or an existing trade, add Notes if you like, and click Link (N) again.
4. Repeat for each position, then click Done (N). Nothing is saved before this. Unlink all discards the links.

The result reads “Imported N executions”, split into New trades and Merged into existing. Executions linked earlier are listed apart and not imported again.

Executions from earlier days

On each IB connect Tented also asks TWS for the executions of the last six days and offers the ones the journal lacks: “IB: N executions are not in the journal” (how far back TWS answers depends on its own settings).

• Review in Import opens the wizard from the day of the first missed execution, fetches at once and ticks them.
• Dismiss stops the offer; × hides it until the next connect.

An IB account shared by several Tented accounts offers its fills to the first one. The account needs a Broker account ID.
