Move orders between thinkorswim and Tented
Test a thinkorswim idea here before you send anything, or execute in thinkorswim and record the trade in Tented. Pasting reads the order text thinkorswim itself produces for option orders.
Paste an order into the builder
- In thinkorswim, copy the order text (on the Trade tab, right-click the order → Copy). It looks like
BUY +1 VERTICAL SPX 100 (Weeklys) 16 OCT 26 6700/6705 CALL @2.95 LMT. - In Tented, open a trade or workspace on the same symbol. In the Trade builder, click Paste next to + Scenario. The Paste thinkorswim order dialog reads the clipboard; you can also paste or edit the text in the box.
- Check the legs, the price (Limit debit or credit, or Market) and any GTC flag in the preview.
- Click Add scenario. The order becomes a scenario named after it (it replaces an untouched, automatically named Scenario 1), and the risk graph draws it.
To start a trade from an order instead, click New (⌘N) in Trades and choose Paste from thinkorswim at the bottom of the account picker. The dialog’s button then reads Create draft.
Copy a scenario out
In the Trade builder, click Copy in the scenario’s footer and paste into thinkorswim’s order entry. With thinkorswim as the market data source, the Commit dialog offers Copy for thinkorswim and Save instead of sending to Interactive Brokers.
Record thinkorswim fills
Journal → Add → Paste from thinkorswim (pick one account first). Paste the fills, click Review import, set or check each fill’s Executed (New York) time and Fees USD, choose its destination (Create new trade, Replace modeled entry where a modeled entry matches, or Add action on an open trade of the same symbol) and click Import fills. Duplicates are skipped.
Problems: Paste says the order is for another symbol, A thinkorswim fill was skipped as a duplicate, Copy is disabled.
