Change a working order's price

When the market runs away from a limit order, move its price from the chip in the trade header. The same order is modified in TWS.

Note

Only a limit order’s price can be changed here, in 0.05 steps for every product. A market order has no price to step. Tented does not read price edits made in TWS back, so a price you changed there is not shown here.

1. Open the trade that has the working order.
2. Step the price with the stepper in the chip (0.05 per click) or type it. Nothing is sent yet.
3. An Update 16.00 → 16.05 button appears to the left of the chip. Click it.

Tented modifies the same order in TWS. If the order was parked, it stays parked. Changing the price again before clicking Update replaces the staged price.

If a toast says “The order price was not changed”, IB or TWS refused the change or the order is no longer working; the toast carries IB’s reason. If there is no Update button at all, see The order price can’t be changed.
