Market news

News in Briefing merges the same event from several outlets into one story, so a market-moving headline is one row.

  • Tabs: Important (the default), Markets, Politics, Companies and All.
  • Each row is one story under its newest headline, with its age, a short summary, its outlets and, when it has developed, when it was first reported.
  • Click the headline to open the newest article. N articles lists every article reporting the story. Official: Federal Reserve (or another publisher) opens the official document the story reports (Read an official document).
  • Sources: CNBC, Bloomberg, WSJ, MarketWatch, NYT, Reuters and AP, plus Federal Reserve and White House releases, press releases of US-listed companies, and the SEC 8-K filings of 21 of the largest US companies.

News refreshes every five minutes while Briefing is open. Important shows the best-rated stories of the last day, at most 20; the other tabs show the last three days.

If the feed looks stale or short, see News is not updating or Important shows few stories. If Briefing says to sign in or cannot reach Tented, see Briefing will not load.
