The chip stays on "Waiting for IB"

What you see. The connection chip stays on Waiting for IB and hover shows “Connection failed: …”. The setup wizard’s Market data step cannot connect either. Or the connection fails right after the handshake, sometimes as “early eof”.

Why. Nothing answered on that port: TWS or IB Gateway is not running or logged in, the API is off, or the Socket port differs from Tented’s Port. A TWS paper login on 7497 or IB Gateway on 4001/4002 does not answer on Tented’s default 7496. A failure right after the handshake usually means another program already uses the same client ID.

What to do.

  1. Check that TWS or IB Gateway is running and logged in, and that the API is enabled.
  2. Match Tented’s Port to the Socket port, or click the right port tile.
  3. If the failure is “early eof”, set a different Client ID and click Reconnect.

Tented keeps redialing every 5 seconds, so it connects as soon as TWS answers. See Set up TWS or IB Gateway.
