Set up Tented with the wizard

On a first launch with no trading account, the wizard opens by itself after sign-in. It connects your market data, decides where your journal lives and creates your first trading account. You can skip every step except the first and last, and run it again later.

Note

A list of steps on the left shows what each finished step produced, and you can click a finished step to go back. Skip for now appears on a step whose result is still missing. Not now on the Welcome step closes the wizard.

1. Welcome: the beta terms (free with every feature; at least 30 days’ email notice before any paid plan; nothing charged automatically). Terms and Privacy open in your browser. Click Get started.
2. Market data: choose where quotes come from, Interactive Brokers (TWS or IB Gateway), or thinkorswim on Windows. For Interactive Brokers, enable the API in TWS, click the tile for your port and click Test connection (Set up TWS or IB Gateway). Without a connection you can skip and connect later; the chain stays empty until you do.
3. Storage: Tented Cloud (“The same journal on every computer you sign in on”) or Your computers only (“Your journal stays on this computer”). Tented Cloud is the default. Change it later in Settings → Sync; a computer-only journal can still be backed up to a folder you choose in Settings → Backups. See Sync.
4. Account: create the trading account your journal records trades in: name, type (Live, Paper or Manual), currency, opening balance and commission rates. You need one to continue, or skip and add it in Settings → Accounts (Accounts).
5. Trade history: optional. Drop an OptionNet Explorer Detail Report to import it (Coming from OptionNet Explorer). Only ONE trade logs import here; other history goes in through the Journal.
6. Chain view: pick Matrix, Focus or T-Chain. You can change it from the chain toolbar’s view picker at any time.
7. Finish: Model a trade (choose New and an account in Trades), Ask Desk (finishes setup and opens Desk) and Send feedback (finishes setup and opens Feedback). Click Finish.

Run setup again: Settings → General → Setup wizard → Run setup again.

Then try Your first trade: New (⌘N, Ctrl+N on Windows) in Trades asks which account and opens a draft, or open Workspaces (⌘2) to explore a chain without a trade.

Problems: Trades says “Add an account to start trading”.
