Briefing
A short-vega or 0DTE trade is a bet that nothing moves the market before it expires. Before you open one you want to know whether an FOMC statement, CPI or the jobs report lands inside it, and when something does move the market you want the headline and the official release in front of you, not five tabs.
Briefing shows the US economic calendar (FOMC meetings, data releases such as CPI, jobs and PCE, Treasury auctions, Fed speeches and operations) beside market news merged into stories, with Desk in a column on the right. Both come from Tented’s server and are built from the publishers’ official schedules and feeds. Briefing needs a Tented sign-in but no broker connection.
Open it from the title bar → Briefing, or ⌘3 (Ctrl3 on Windows). The caret in Desk’s header (Hide Desk) folds Desk to a strip; the strip’s button (Show Desk) brings it back.
How traders use it
Section titled “How traders use it”- Check the week before you sell premium. Open Briefing on Monday, leave the calendar on Important, and note which sessions carry FOMC, CPI, jobs or PCE. Pick expirations accordingly.
- Watch the clock on a short-gamma trade. The status bar names the next Important event and counts down to it, in amber for the last 15 minutes.
- Ask Desk what an event means for your book. Click Ask on a row and Desk gets a question about that event, which you can edit before sending.
- Read the primary source. On a story about a Fed decision, click Official: Federal Reserve to read the release itself, with an AI summary and its key figures.
- Skim the Important tab at the open. It is the day’s most important stories, merged across outlets, so one event is one row.
